Ian Clark has spent several hundred hours photographing loons throughout New England. Locally, he’s followed several pairs since 2012. Along the way, he managed to take something like 40,000 pictures of them.
Now on exhibit at the library, An Uncommon Look at the Common Loon features ten of Ian’s prints. Together, these prints show the highlights of our local loons, with images of them resting, defending their territory and raising their chicks.
Locally, Ian is best known for the sports photos that appear regularly in the Upper Valley’s newspapers. His early career was in photo labs, including a stint as the manager of NASA’s Photo Section at Langley Research Center in Hampton Roads, VA. In addition to his nature work, he has a passion for trains and is working to photographing all of the working steam locomotives in the US. You can find out more at www.IanClark.com.
