Free Tax Preparation/Filing Assistance for families will be offered again this year at the Blake Memorial Library on Thursdays from 4:00 – 7:00 pm from February 7 through April 11. Appointments can be drop-in or scheduled ahead.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is sponsored by and all volunteer preparers receive training from the IRS and the Vermont Department of Taxes. For more information or to make an appointment, please call or text (802) 291-0525.
In addition to preparing state and federal tax returns, our volunteers will help file Vermont’s renter’s rebate, homestead declaration and property tax adjustment forms.
1. your social security card or a government issued document that contains your full social security number
2. A valid photo ID
3. Your tax documents including property tax bills
The VITA program is made possible by AARP and the IRS.
***Common income tax forms and instruction booklets will be available at the library during tax season for those who are doing their own taxes. You can also print tax forms from the library’s public access computers.
