Votes for the Green Mountain Book Award are due May 31. Students in grades 9 through 12 who've read three of the books from the 2012-13 list are encouraged to submit their votes online (at https://sites.google.com/site/greenmountainbookaward/2013-voting-forms) or at BML soon. The Green Mountain Book Award 2013-14 list has been released, so in the coming weeks we’ll be shelving the ones we don’t have. If you’re eager to get a jump on them, you can start with the ones currently on our shelves: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
The new Dorothy Canfield Fisher (DCF) Book Award list for 2013-2014 has come out, and we’ve begun to shelf the books. Recommended for fourth through eighth graders, the new DCF books include The Mighty Miss Malone by Newbery Medal and Coretta Scott King Award winner Christopher Paul Curtis, Will Sparrow’s Road by Newbery Medalist Karen Cushman, and the 2013 Newbery Medal winner The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate, to name a few. Voting for the 2012-2013 DCF winner (open to fourth through eigth graders who’ve read at least 5 books from the list) is open now, and due at the library by April 18.
